Cross Country

On Wednesday cross country started for c team. It went ten year olds to nine year olds to eight year olds. It took about 2min and 10sec everyone was running like a monster 100 feet tall and50 feet long and the cow pats were doom! Okay the good times. C team got fit, cross country was good, but we all needed water after that. All the blood in c team was moving.

How do Primary Schools Work in NZ?

Room seven had to do some writing about a memorable experience. I chose to draw a picture of Australia because I remember clearly about when I went there.I went to mid-East Australia in between Brisbone and Bunderberg. We flew from Auckland airport at eight-o-clock and arrived at Brisbone airport at ten o-clock. Aunty Robyn picked us up and took us to her house. We got two more hours of the day because the time is different. Later on we went to our cousins house. On the third day we went to Mary and Waynes house. We got to sleep on Waynes pirate ship. A couple of days later we came back home to New Zealand. What an AWESOME holiday.

Why do childrens' books have pictures?
Childrens' books have pictures because when children read them they want to get a picture in their head insted of doing that they can just look at the picture.It also lets them learn about the book.

How does a bicycle work?
There's a chain on your bike. It's somehow attached to your pedals so when you move the pedals it moves the chain and the chain moves the bike . You move your handles to stear the bike. It moves the front wheel and the back follows along with it. That's how it works.

Because, come on, I mean you can't be a cave-man and rip meat with your hand's and teeth, that would be rude!

WHY DO HOUSES HAVE WINDOWS?
Why do houses have windows? Everyone asks. Well I'll tell you today. If a house didn't have a window it would be so dark. It may be warm and cosy in the Winter but hot and stuffy in the Summer. Also, it would be quiet and creepy. Aha, I know what you might be thinking. What about the doors? Well, the doors don't put light through the whole house, they only put it right in front of where they are and of course lights if you had them on all day. It would cost a fortune. What if you had to work all day? Well it's still the fact of coming home in the dark and turning on al lthe lights in the house. That's about all about why houses have windows for now and if you don't think so, try it for yourself. You will get big bills!

What do you do if you're Lost?
Getting lost is awful but how would you get lost? Well, if you were lost in the bush or if you were shipwrecked, some of the needs are: Water, food, shelter and fire. If you're tramping you should have a survival kit. If you're lost for a long time, try to make a shelter.

Why do you Wipe your Feet Before you come into the House?
"Mummy, can I come in?"
"Wipe your feet first Johny dear!"
One good reason for wiping your feet is that your feet have germs on them which is why you sometimes have to wash your feet. I don't mean jumping into a three degree pool and doing one hundreds widths, I mean the shower! Ok, No water-lovers, not the bath...the shower! Back to the point. If you have a dog you'll find chucking him in the shower is not necessary. It is important to wipe your feet before you come into the house because we don't want to have germs and diseases put into our house and around people. It is also a good idea to wipe your feet so that you don't get dirt into the house. Mum would be happy with that!

Why do Cars Have Registration Plates?
On registration plates there are numbers and letters. We have them so if we have something wrong with the car, if you are going too fast, if you are going too slow or any other reason, the Police may come, and if they cat get you they look at your registation plate and wherever you are going they call Police near where you are going and then they can get you instead.

A Visit from Miss C's Oma

Last week we had a special visitor. Our 'country of the week' was Holland so Miss C invited her Oma to come and talk to our class. She talked to us about what it was like in Holland and then showed us what Dutch children used to wear. Angel and Bradley got to dress up...don't they look lovely! They are wearing traditional costumes from Holland (even the clogs!).
